Assistant Professor, Finance

Nov 26, 2019

The department of Business and Entrepreneurship of Columbia College Chicago seeks applicants for a fulltime tenure-track or tenured faculty position in finance beginning August 2020.

Business and Entrepreneurship offers professional undergraduate and graduate programs that focus on the business side of the creative industries. Programs prepare students to launch, manage, lead, and grow creative sector businesses, cultural institutions, and their own careers. We offer BA degrees in Arts Management, Marketing, and Music Business; a Master of Arts Management (MAM) degree; and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Entrepreneurship for Creatives.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have documented experience that includes work with underrepresented communities in the application of finance and financial management in the creative industries, incorporating current industry practices, standards, and trends; and in entrepreneurship such as funding, launching, or leading entrepreneurial ventures. The successful candidate will present evidence of or capacity for sustained peer reviewed, original scholarship, creative endeavors, or professional accomplishments and experience with student-centered experiential pedagogy bridging theory and practice. In addition to expertise in their field, successful candidates must exhibit excellent teaching and scholarly credentials and be passionate about undergraduate and graduate education.

The School of Fine and Performing Arts (SFPA) houses academic programs in visual arts, performing arts, business, and marketing. Home to more than 110 full-time faculty and nearly 3,500 students, the SFPA community is deeply committed to rigorous exploration of a wide range of artistic practices and economies, with strong focus on a diversity of contemporary styles and current industry trends. Across SFPA, we challenge the next generation of artists, scholars, managers, performers, designers, makers, and entrepreneurs to master the skills and interrogate the foundations of their creative disciplines; imagine new futures; and contribute to the vibrant arts communities of Chicago and beyond.
