ICCE degrees are:MA Arts Administration and Cultural PolicyMA Creative and Cultural EntrepreneurshipMA Social EntrepreneurshipMA in Cutural Policy Relations and DiplomacyMA in Cultural Policy and TourismMphil/ PhdAll the MAs are one year programmesICCE delivers enterprise cultural management and policy education to the creative and cultural sectors and supports research in to new approaches to business financial models and management in the Creative Economy. It delivers a range of academic programmes and presents activities and events to promote an environment in which creative and cultural entrepreneurship  and arts management can flourish. For arts and cultural organisations we encourage students to critically analyse current management and policy practice at both micro and macro levels and recognise their potential to create new models and practice for both. MA Arts Administration and Cultural Policy  This MA will enable you to develop an awareness of and a critical approach to the discipline by studying arts policy and practice in Europe arts education regeneration through arts arts diversity and social inclusion and the role of the arts in national and cultural identity. Modules cover areas such as:fundraisingbusiness planning for the artsmanagement practice and skillsaudience development Practitioners from many companies venues and national organisations teach on the programme providing a direct link with the profession. Through individual research and placement with an arts company or management organisation you will develop essential practical skills to enhance your potential and your employability as an arts administrator. The programme also offers you one course in a complementary area. These at present are:Entrepreneurial ModellingInterpretation Education and Communication in the Art MuseumCultural Relations and DiplomacyPerformance Art and HealthSociocultural Analysis of the MusicalThere is also a Music Pathway in this programme which allows you to broaden your musical knowledge and skills through largely theory and/or history-based courses.  This full time one year MA aims to enables the student to reach her/his potential as a creative Arts Administrator in areas of both policy and practice. The programme will engage with key issues in the formulation of policy and the administration of culture in particular those relating to the performing arts. Through both analysis of contemporary and recent practice and through practical work in a range of areas students will be able to develop awareness and a critical approach to the discipline. By harnessing this awareness they will be able to analyse and intervene effectively in the production of contemporary arts. The programme will also develop students’ ability to study and assess the methodology of administrative practice and apply learnt skills which in turn will enable the student to be a creative Arts Administrator or Policy Maker in a variety of contexts.By studying areas such as Arts Policy and Practice in Europe Arts Education Regeneration through Arts Arts and Tourism and the Role of Arts in National and Cultural Identity students will gain an understanding of the context in which specific administrative and management skills can be applied. Through specialist modules in Audience Development Fundraising Business Planning for the Arts and Management Practice as well as the opportunity to undertake a placement with an arts organisation students will be equipped with the necessary practical skills to develop their potential to contribute to the creation of contemporary arts.These specific skills and the knowledge gained throughout the programme will also enable students to develop a variety of additional transferable skills applicable to many other areas of employment. For those who are committed to a career in arts administration or cultural policy but are not sure in which area to specialise the programme provides the opportunity to expand their knowledge of a range of areas and develop a clearer understanding of which may be the most appropriate for them.   MA in Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship  The MA will be taught in partnership by a number of departments within Goldsmiths and with key individuals and organisations in the creative and cultural industries sector. Our collective approach is to integrate entrepreneurship within the development of creative practices and to take a ‘creative’ approach to the development of new businesses and the infrastructure that supports them. This programme is designed to allow you to continue to innovate but also to provide the requisite business/entrepreneurial skills and attributes to commercialise your creative and cultural practices and/or knowledge. You’ll be able to build on a historical and theoretical understanding of cultural and creative industries and the development of a cultural economy to create your own creative initiatives which might be research-based policy-based practice-based or a combination of any or all of these. What you study The programme contains four taught courses and a further dissertation/portfolio component. You’ll have a range of choices throughout the degree enabling you to design a pathway that is most relevant to your academic business and career ambitions. All students take courses I and III and you can choose between options offered for your chosen pathway for courses II and IV. Course I: Theories of the Culture Industry: work creativity and precariousness (30 credits)Course II: Creative Practice (30 credits)Course III: Entrepreneurial Modelling (30 credits)Course IV: Entrepreneurial Practices and Modes of Production within one creative industry sector (30 credits)Course V: Dissertation or Project/Portfolio plus reflective analysis (60 credits) To encourage collaborative learning we try to teach all students together wherever possible irrespective of your particular pathway.MA Social EntrepreneurshipThis Masters programme with an exit route at Postgraduate Diploma level is ideal if you wish to either:  develop a sustainable model for a new or existing social enterprise (for example a business relating to a ‘product’ or ‘process’ arising from your practice to community or to a form of ‘expertise’ ‘consultancy’ or ‘knowledge’)understand how to create the infrastructure and environment for new social enterprises to flourish in a variety of contexts (for example city rural regional or national) The programme is designed to encourage you to continue to innovate and to provide the requisite business/entrepreneurial skills and attributes to create a strong social – and where appropriate financial – return on your social creative and cultural practices and/or knowledge. You will study in the interdisciplinary environment of Goldsmiths and will also benefit from being in London a city where creative and cultural industries play a key part in the economy and where organisations such as UnLtd and Innovation Unit – which support social enterprise and innovation – are based. Many students on the programme come from overseas and make a valuable contribution to the learning environment by providing an international perspective on social and entrepreneurial issues from their respective countries. In addition staff members have considerable experience of working and researching internationally in areas that are directly relevant to the programme. What you study The programme will introduce you to key concepts in the historical development of social enterprise and innovation and to its changing role in society and the economy. Seminars and talks will be given by social entrepreneurs as well as leading professionals. You’ll learn innovative approaches to developing an enterprise and gain confidence in revenue generation and financial modelling.  A significant amount of the learning is delivered through group projects and activities. Having culture as the underlying thread the programme explores areas such as: arts policy and managementglobalisationcultural relationspublic diplomacycultural and arts diplomacyexternal communicationsplace branding  This will provide a unique perspective into this field of study and will examine topics such as mobility of cultural practitioners cultural identity intercultural dialogue mutuality propaganda soft power hegemony influence and perceptions. Goldsmiths’ location in London provides you with a unique experience of living in a multicultural world city which is of great relevance to the study of cultural policy relations and diplomacy. You’ll study in the Institute for Creative and Cultural Entrepreneurship (ICCE). ICCE’s individual and institutional links with an extensive network of organisations policy advisors and cultural practitioners in those areas in London and in Europe allow you to experience exceptional research and study resources. ICCE’s established organisational links include for example the British Council Visiting Arts EUNIC London Hub and Demos. ICCE is also a member of ENCATC (the leading European network on Cultural Management and Cultural Policy education). The Institute is also responsible for fostering the sharing of information and discussion of issues related to international cultural relations across disciplines on the JISCMail list cultural-relations-diplomacy. Our staff and invited academic and professional experts will enhance your learning. They’ll discuss relevant literature and will present case studies and practical examples with local national and global dimensions involving a range of individuals and organisations including corporations governments international bodies and NGOs. What you study This MA is a 180-credit programme consisting of four 30-credit modules and a 60-credit dissertation.  The two main modules of the programme Cultural Policy and Practice and Cultural Relations and Diplomacy are complemented by a module on Contemporary Issues in Cultural Policy that brings to the fore present themes that require further study. The fourth module of the programme is an option from a selection of courses covering arts engagement media business languages and politics – this is designed to allow you to tailor the programme to your own particular skills and/or interests.  The teaching methodologies used in these modules will be conducive to creative and independent in-depth and collaborative learning. They’ll culminate in the production of a final dissertation in which you will explore in detail a topic building on your interests and knowledge. The programme allows and encourages you to engage in work placements while attending the course. These are not a formal part of the programme but some support will be provided building on ICCE’s extensive experience of internship management and network of contacts. MA in Cultural Policy and TourismStudying the role of culture in tourism in the setting provided by London is a unique opportunity to observe policies and practices that connect with a wide range of relevant issues such as regeneration and development project management cultural diversity heritage and the arts place branding. The programme is designed to enable students from a variety of international and academic/professional backgrounds to understand apply and critically evaluate theoretical perspectives approaches and methods in the study of the changing and diverse relationships between culture arts politics and tourism at postgraduate level. The course also addresses policy professional and practitioner concerns and issues in those sectors through a variety of case studies and practical examples at local national and global dimensions involving a wide range of organisations (governments international organisations corporations NGOs and individuals). You’ll also be able to take optional courses in areas of arts engagement to develop their skills and interest in an artform. This programme is for students wishing to work in cultural and public policy related to tourism with governments NGOs or for cultural organisations with tourism as part of their agenda.
