Strategic Planning: Perspectives from a Public Sector Arts Organization and a Nonprofit Sector Arts Organization

Abstract  

This thesis discusses the similarities and differences between public, private, and nonprofit organizations to understand more clearly the context for strategic planning. After comparing strategic planning models from the literature and the actual processes of the Ohio Arts Council and the Taft Museum, it poses a strategic planning process that takes into account an organization's sector characteristics and key environmental factors facing organizations in the arts arena.
