Abstract

This paper is the result of an internship with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, the only professional chamber orchestra in the Kansas City area. In order to determine why the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra (KCCO) remains viable but another chamber orchestra no longer exists, I utilized interviews with many involved in the organizations, newspaper articles, and music reviews to conduct an analysis of the reasons why the KCCO is still an integral part of the arts community. I explored the leadership skills required to run an effective arts organization.
