The Future of the American Orchestra: Building a Collaborative Environment for Tomorrow's Success

This paper will examine the culture within orchestras and will demonstrate how smaller, lower-tiered orchestras can champion the collaboration and a relationship between musicians, staff, board, and management based on transparency, respect, and communication in order to flourish. Research for this paper was based on current literature on orchestra and nonprofit management as well as personal interviews with senior managers in the orchestra and collegiate fields.
