Identifying and Addressing Issues to Prevent Organizational Crisis

This paper examines the issues impacting one orchestra and the broader context in which these issues affect arts organizations as a whole. Information gathered during an internship with a regional orchestra provided a snapshot of the organization at a significant point in its life cycle. Three critical concerns were identified: the impact of major funding, the role of leadership, and expansion without adequate planning. In-depth research of the orchestra field was conducted providing field-wide insight into these issues.
