Making Tape: Setting a Foundation for the Theatre Arts Program for Education (Tape), a Mission-Based Outreach of the Fringe Festival of Central Florida to the Orange County Public Schools

This paper describes the steps taken by the Fringe Festival of Central Florida to fill a perceived gap in arts programming in public education. The paper details the various constituencies touched by the project; presents information used to form common goals; details research in using creative and classroom drama to teach language arts; and defines a strategy for persuading the education community to engage in partnership. The author presents standards-based arguments that can be used universally by those who wish to form collaborative partnerships with teachers.
