Program Goals and Objectives
The Master of Science in Arts Management curriculum is designed to train managers andleaders in the arts who come to the curriculum from a variety of backgrounds in the arts,entertainment and media fields. The student who already holds a baccalaureate degree inarts management should pursue the Master of Business Administration degree.
Program Objectives
Students completing the Master of Science in Arts Management degree will be able to:
• demonstrate knowledge of current policies and practices in arts management;
• demonstrate knowledge of fiscal responsibilities within an arts setting;
• demonstrate the ability to lead and/or contribute to an arts organization;
• employ technology and demonstrate knowledge of technological resources; and
• demonstrate the ability to research and write.

The Arts Management Program is directed by David Edelman, Assistant Professor of Arts Managment, Shenandoah Conservatory.

Degree Requirements

Admissions
Entrance Requirements
Applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree in music, theatre, dance, arts or theequivalent with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) prior to admissioninto the program. Transcripts from all post-secondary school study must be submitted. Aspart of the Shenandoah University graduate application, applicants submit a writing samplethat addresses their intent for joining the program and lists their professional goals.Persons with baccalaureate degrees in other disciplines may be considered on an individualbasis if they have had extensive non-curricular experiences in the arts.
Transfer of Credits
Up to nine credits may be transferred into this curriculum when earned at an accreditedinstitution and when the credits fulfill required courses or appropriate electives. Studentswho enroll in a second master’s degree at Shenandoah Conservatory may transfer up tonine credits from the first degree completed into the second degree when those creditsfulfill curricular requirements.
