Program Goals and Objectives
The arts management program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, inaugurated in 1988, has as its primary focus the training of talented undergraduate students for careers as arts managers in a variety of non-profit settings in the arts. The continual growth and complexity of theaters, art centers, dance groups, and music organizations creates a demand for skilled arts administrators who can develop programs, write grants, provide technical assistance, and be responsible managers in a variety of settings.
The course of study at UW-Stevens Point includes interrelationship of the arts, with communication and business skills that apply to the financing, producing, promoting, and marketing of the arts. Practical skills in organizational development, public relations, marketing the arts, and most importantly leadership in the arts are provided.
