The Future of Support for the Arts and Culture in Kosovo

This study examines the recent history and current situation of the arts and culture scene in Kosovo. It examines what models were used in Kosovo by state cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations involved in the arts and culture, to attract donors and acquire funds. The study provides a brief comparison between the communist regime period and Kosovo's parallel system during the 1990s with the post 1999-war reality. The study also examines which models were used by other Eastern European countries to attract donors and foundations, such as the approach used by the governments of Eastern Europe toward tax-benefits for the non-governmental sector. The study was enhanced by interviews with leading artists, NGO staff and officials of cultural institutions in Kosovo.
