Toward a Conventional Copyright System: The Jamaican Experience with Rights Management and a New Law

In 1993, Jamaica updated it copyright law and developed a modern system for collective rights management. With strong consideration of the unique cultural environment that Jamaica represents and the unique history of its popular music, this paper examines the implications of these changes for creators and copyright owners.
