Teaching Artists: Issues for Arts Administrators

The use of Teaching Artists, educators hired by arts organizations to teach the arts in schools, is described. A history of arts education through arts organizations is offered, as well as descriptions of the different ways Teaching Artists are used. Training, Planning, Collaboration, Reflection, and Assessment techniques are discussed as well. Information was gathered from research projects, journal articles and personal interviews. Suggestions on sustainability and how to improve research in this area are discussed.
