| Abstract | Most large nonprofit organizations fund their programs with the financial support of wealthy individuals. Sophisticated prospect research is one effective way to identify contributors because it prepares the way for most major gift solicitations. This essay discusses critical issues associated with the prospect research practice, specifically the issues of ethics and privacy infringement, the need to evaluate the efficiency of prospect research using financial measures and the integration of prospect research with the overall fundraising management of the nonprofit organization. | |
