Abstract

To ensure that the artistic integrity and legacy of dance as well as its rightful owners are protected, it is critical that all parties involved have an understanding and command of ownership and protection issues and solutions. This thesis reviews the copyright law and the issues it creates in regards to choreography. In addition, two case studies will illustrate these issues and offer models for the ownership and protection of choreography, both during and after a choreographer's lifetime.
