Call for Nominations: 2019 Board Elections
The Board Development Committee is specifically seeking individuals who bring diversity to the board with regard to age, geographic location, ethnicity, and other demographic indicators. Additionally, the Committee is interested in nominees who have previously been involved with the organization through conference attendance and/or committee service.
Participation on the board of directors is an opportunity to lend one’s leadership and vision to the organization, and to work with the board and staff in charting the organization’s future. More specifics can be found in the Board Roles and Responsibilities document. If you are interested in running for election or in nominating a colleague, please see below for more information.
Nominate yourself or a colleague by sending an email to Sherry Wagner-Henry at swh(AT)bus.wisc.edu. If you are nominating a colleague, AAAE will contact them to ask if they will accept the nomination. The call fornominations will remain open until January 21, 2018.
If an individual accepts a nomination, they will be asked for further information by the Board Development Committee. The Board Development Committee may choose to decline a nomination if it does not meet the criteria articulated above.
For this election, two seats are vacant and one is up for re-election.
AAAE will hold board elections online in advance of the annual conference. This means that every institutional member named on your organization’s membership may vote, whether or not they will attend the conference. The voting window will be approximately one week long, and will take place in mid-February.
Please note that an individual must be affiliated with an institutional (full) membership in good standing to run for the board of directors. Those affiliated with a developmental membership are not eligible to run.
SERVING ON THE BOARD
Board members serve for three-year terms and may stand for re-election into a second term. All board members serve on AAAE committees, provide counsel and partnership to AAAE’s staff, attend the annual conference, and serve as an AAAE representative in the community. The board meets quarterly, twice in person and twice remotely (with an additional meeting during the annual conference).
AAAE is dedicated to a nomination process that brings skilled, excited individuals forward to participate in shaping and leading the organization. Those with questions or further thoughts are encouraged to contact Sherry Wagner-Henry, chair of the Board Development Committee at swh(AT)bus.wisc.edu.
