Assistant Technical Director (ATD)

This full-time, non-exempt position reports to the Director, Center for the Arts. The ATD acts as the technician or technical coordinator for musical concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and fashion events. Responsible for planning, constructing and installing scenery for all theatrical productions, in consultation with the Technical Director and scenic designers. Provides assistance with art handling for the Freedman Gallery (packing/unpacking and moving artwork) and exhibit installation. The ATD serves as the Venue Manager, scheduling, approving and declining requests for use of CFA spaces. Additional duties include coordinating the set-up and tear down of equipment for CFA events, in collaboration with the college’s Facilities crew as well as supervising student labor.

Requires Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre or related field; minimum 1-2 years prior technical theater experience; computer literacy; and physical ability to safely operate a variety of power tools/equipment, stoop/bend/kneel, climb ladders up to 20 ft., lift at least 80 lbs., and crawl through confined spaces, etc.
