Position Description

 

Overview
The Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE) is a growing member organization for those who teach arts and cultural management in higher education settings. AAAE holds an annual conference, provides resources to educators, and connects members by maintaining virtual communications platforms. The organization seeks a part-time administrative staffer who may be just entering the professional field or rounding out a portfolio career.

There is tremendous opportunity for growth with this position, both in responsibility and hours/compensation. We are looking for the right person to make this opportunity their own and make a difference at AAAE by attracting new members, enhancing our digital presence, and building relationships with members.

Compensation
AAAE requires a 10-15 hour commitment per week compensated at $600/month. For working the annual conference, the Membership Assistant will receive a rate of $100/day for each day of the conference.
 

Qualifications
The ideal person for this position is an independent worker who is comfortable with working virtually. Self-starting, critical thinking, and anticipating the needs of the members and the Executive Director will make this person invaluable to the organization.

The Membership Assistant must be customer-focused with an ability to provide friendly and comprehensive service to AAAE’s members and conference attendees.

The Membership Assistant should be comfortable creating and managing content for Facebook, Twitter, Mailchimp and the AAAE website.

The Membership Assistant should have strong writing and communication skills. Candidates whose application materials (see below) demonstrate these skills will be most closely considered.


Remote Working Expectations
Since AAAE is a virtual organization and all work is done remotely, the Membership Assistant will set his/her own schedule. However, some parameters do apply, and all who work on behalf of AAAE will be expected to:

 

Reporting
The Membership Assistant reports to the Executive Director.


Logistical Requirements
AAAE is a virtual organization. Though mail and other official documents are sent to PO Box 721031, McAllen TX 78504, all work is completed off site. The Membership Assistant should be prepared to utilize their own:

This position is slated for 10-15 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours in the spring during the conference season. The annual conference takes place May 31 - June 2 in Houston TX and the Membership Assistant is expected to travel to and work the event (all costs covered by AAAE).
